## K&N 10-22 Toyota 4Runner V6-4.0L Elevated Intake Kit (Snorkel)

If you're driving a 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner and you're serious about performance, you already know that factory air intake system was engineered to a price point, not a performance target. K&N Engineering takes a completely different approach.

K&N Engineering has been engineering high-flow air filtration solutions since 1969, and their washable, reusable cotton gauze filter technology changed how performance enthusiasts think about air intake systems. K&N's products appear on vehicles competing in NASCAR, IndyCar, and off-road racing series — not as a sponsorship exercise, but because racing teams demand the most airflow with the least restriction. K&N filters use multiple layers of cotton gauze media treated with a special oil that traps particles as small as 10 microns while allowing significantly more airflow than paper filter equivalents.

The result is this air intake system — engineered with the 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner specifically in mind, matching spring rates, mounting geometry, and component sizing to what this platform actually demands under real-world conditions.

## Engineering and Technology

K&N's cotton gauze filter media is oiled with a proprietary blend that creates a sticky barrier for dust and debris while maintaining dramatically lower restriction than paper-element equivalents. Their testing demonstrates 50% more airflow than comparable OEM paper filters across the same pressure drop range — airflow that translates directly to throttle response and power output at wide-open throttle. The washable, reusable design means a single K&N filter outperforms dozens of disposable paper filters over its lifetime, eliminating the environmental waste and recurring cost of replacement filters.

For the 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner, these engineering principles translate into direct performance improvements. Toyota 4Runner owners running this air intake system consistently report improved throttle response, better wide-open-throttle power delivery, and long-term reliability that paper filter replacements simply cannot match.

## Who This Is For

This K&N Engineering air intake system is designed for 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner owners who use their vehicles seriously. Whether your primary use is daily driving, performance driving, towing, this component was engineered to deliver in your specific application.

Engine airflow is the most fundamental performance parameter — the engine cannot make power it isn't breathing for. Factory air intake systems use restrictive paper filters and constrained intake paths that limit maximum airflow at wide-open throttle. This K&N Engineering intake system removes that restriction while maintaining the filtration efficiency your engine needs for long-term reliability.

Ideal for: Daily driving · Performance driving · Towing · Off-road · Racing

## Why Upgrade Matters for 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner

Factory intake components are engineered to a budget and a set of average expectations. The engineering team responsible for the 4Runner spec had to balance cost, mass-market appeal, regulatory compliance, and warranty exposure — none of which prioritize the kind of performance a serious 4Runner owner actually needs.

Air is what your engine burns. More air, more precisely delivered, means better combustion and more power. The factory air intake on the 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner uses a paper filter that restricts airflow to minimize cost and simplify replacement. A K&N Engineering air intake system removes that restriction while maintaining the filtration efficiency your engine needs for long-term health — giving you both performance and reliability in a single upgrade.

## Installation and Compatibility

This K&N Engineering air intake system is designed to fit the 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner using the existing air box mounting and throttle body connection. No cutting, drilling, or permanent modifications are required. Installation typically takes under an hour with basic hand tools.

This product is designed and tested specifically for the 2010–2022 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner. If your vehicle has factory performance packages or factory 4Runner options that may affect fitment, verify compatibility using your vehicle's build sheet or contact technical support before ordering.

## Complete Your Build with Bull Strap

If you're upgrading your Toyota 4Runner's intake system, your suspension travel and drivetrain protection deserve the same attention. Bull Strap limit straps are the final piece of the suspension puzzle — engineered and manufactured in the USA to control maximum droop travel and protect your axles, CV joints, and brake lines from overextension under articulation.

Bull Strap limit straps are made in the USA from high-tenacity webbing and proprietary hardware and are the choice of professional fabricators and serious off-road builders who understand that uncontrolled droop is how you destroy expensive components. Pair them with your K&N Engineering intake upgrade for a complete, properly engineered suspension system.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Will this K&N Engineering air intake system fit my 2010–2022 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner?**

Yes — this product is designed and validated for the 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner (2010–2022). Fitment data is verified against factory specifications. If you have a 4Runner with unusual factory options or prior modifications, verify those don't affect the installation before ordering.

**How does K&N Engineering's air intake system compare to the factory 4Runner equivalent?**

The factory air intake system was designed to a budget and an average use case. K&N Engineering's engineering prioritizes performance, durability, and real-world function over cost minimization. In practical terms, you'll notice the difference in throttle response, wide-open-throttle performance, and long-term maintenance cost compared to recurring paper filter replacements.

**Is this air intake system covered by a warranty?**

K&N Engineering stands behind the quality of their products with manufacturer warranty coverage. Specific warranty terms vary by product line — refer to the product documentation or contact K&N Engineering directly for warranty details applicable to this part. K&N Engineering's warranty reflects their confidence in the quality of their manufacturing and materials.

**Can I install this air intake system myself, or do I need a professional?**

Installation difficulty varies by air intake system and vehicle. Most installations are designed to be completed by home mechanics with basic tool access. Professional installation is always an option if you prefer to have the work validated by a shop familiar with your vehicle.

## Build Quality and Value

K&N Engineering products are not the cheapest option for your 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner. They are not designed to be. Budget components in critical systems — intake components that your vehicle's capability and, in some cases, safety depend on — create a false economy. The cost of a component failure in a critical system far exceeds the delta between a quality product and a cut-rate alternative. K&N Engineering prices reflect genuine engineering investment, quality materials, precise manufacturing, and the validation process that ensures the product performs exactly as specified across its full service life.

For 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner owners who depend on their vehicles in demanding conditions, the calculation is straightforward: invest in components that perform when you need them to, last as long as the vehicle, and back that promise with manufacturer warranty coverage. This K&N Engineering air intake system meets that standard.

For professional builders, fleet managers, and serious enthusiasts who track performance across their builds, K&N Engineering's consistent engineering standards mean predictable outcomes. When you specify K&N Engineering for a Toyota 4Runner build, you know what you're getting.

## Real-World Performance Context

K&N Engineering products are validated in the real world, not just on engineering benches. The intake hardware you choose for your 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner will be asked to perform across a wide range of conditions — temperature extremes, sustained load cycles, rough terrain, and the cumulative stress of thousands of miles in demanding environments. This air intake system is engineered to deliver consistent, repeatable performance across all of those conditions.

Intake systems see everything from dusty desert conditions to wet creek crossings, from sub-zero winter starts to sustained summer heat. The filter media, housing, and connections must maintain consistent performance across all of those conditions. K&N Engineering's design and material choices reflect an understanding of how intake systems are actually used — not just how they perform on a dyno in a controlled environment.

**What makes the 2010–2022 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner a good platform for intake upgrades?**

The 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner has an excellent foundation — Toyota engineers the 4Runner with robust frame construction, capable stock drivetrain components, and factory intake specs that are genuinely competent for average use. The reason aftermarket upgrades make such a difference is precisely because the factory engineers did their job well — the platform can handle more than the factory spec delivers. A K&N Engineering air intake system lets you access that latent capability.

**How long does this air intake system last?**

K&N Engineering components are designed for service lives that match or exceed the factory equivalent. Proper installation, periodic inspection, and maintenance appropriate to your usage intensity are the primary variables in longevity. Owners running their 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner primarily on-road under moderate loads can expect many years of service without attention. Owners running aggressive off-road applications should inspect intake components more frequently and follow the manufacturer's maintenance recommendations.

**Will this affect my 2010–2022 Toyota 4Runner factory warranty?**

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer cannot void your vehicle warranty simply because you installed aftermarket components, unless they can demonstrate the aftermarket part caused the specific failure. That said, review your warranty terms and understand the interaction between your aftermarket components and any open factory warranty claims before installation.
