Carli Signature Series Front and Rear Shock Set for 1994–2013 Dodge Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 — 2.75-Inch Lift

The Carli Signature Series shock set for 1994–2013 Dodge Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 is the correct entry-point shock upgrade for classic Cummins and Magnum-powered Ram heavy-duty trucks running 2.75 inches of front lift. This is not a catalog shock that happens to fit these trucks — it is a system tuned specifically for the front-end weight of the Ram 2500 and 3500 across this twenty-year production span, designed to deliver better highway ride quality and improved off-road composure without the cost of Carli's remote reservoir Pathfinder system.

The Ram 2500 and 3500 from 1994 through 2013 represents one of the most durable and purpose-built heavy-duty truck platforms ever produced. Owners of these trucks tend to keep them for high mileage precisely because the 5.9-liter and 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engines are exceptionally long-lived. The front suspension on these trucks — a solid front axle located by radius arms, with coil-over spring and shock assemblies — provides genuine off-road capability and handles payload loads that would overwhelm independent front suspension designs. The Signature Series shocks are built for this platform's actual use case.

Tuned for the Ram Heavy-Duty's Front-End Weight

The critical variable in shock specification for a heavy-duty truck is front-end weight. The 5.9-liter Cummins diesel in 1994–2007 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks places significant mass over the front axle — considerably more than a comparable gasoline-engine truck of similar vintage. The 6.7-liter that replaced it from 2007.5 onward is similarly heavy. Factory shocks on these trucks are valved for the full range of operating conditions from empty to maximum GVWR, which means they compromise between the needs of the truck at both extremes of that load range.

Carli builds the Signature Series shocks from the actual weight of this truck as a starting point. The front shock valving is calibrated for the diesel's mass over the front axle, not for an average across a range of truck weights. This specificity delivers a front end that responds correctly to braking — no excessive dive — and absorbs road inputs at highway speed without the harshness that comes from shocks over-damped for the actual weight they are controlling. Owners consistently report this as the most noticeable improvement after installation: the truck feels planted and controlled rather than stiff and reactive.

Who This Shock Set Is For

The Signature Series is the right specification for Ram 2500 and 3500 owners who primarily drive on pavement — commuting, towing, hauling — with occasional off-road use on maintained roads and moderate trails. If your Ram HD is a daily driver and work truck that sees occasional backcountry travel but is not regularly run through demanding technical terrain or high-speed desert driving, the Signature Series provides everything you need in a shock upgrade. The ride quality improvement over factory shocks is meaningful in exactly the conditions where most Ram HD owners spend most of their miles.

For owners who do sustained, demanding off-road driving — extended high-speed desert runs, repeated rocky terrain, or any situation where the shocks cycle continuously for hours — Carli's Pathfinder 2.5-inch remote reservoir system is the appropriate step up. The Pathfinder's additional thermal capacity from the remote reservoir provides consistent damping through conditions that would cause the Signature Series to fade. But for the majority of Ram 2500 and 3500 owners, the Signature Series is the correct tool for how they actually use their trucks.

Complete Front and Rear Set

The Signature Series set includes both front and rear shocks. The front shocks are Carli's 2.0-inch body units with 10 inches of wheel travel, tuned for the diesel's front-end weight and designed to work correctly with 2.75 inches of front lift. The rear shocks are tuned to complement the front and work with the factory rear leaf spring packs on the 1994–2013 Ram HD. Installing a matched front-and-rear shock system is the correct approach — mismatched damping between front and rear produces handling that pitches and rocks differently in the two ends of the truck rather than behaving as a coherent system.

The 10 inches of wheel travel in the Signature Series front shocks is a meaningful improvement over factory stroke. On-road, it means the shock can absorb larger inputs without reaching the end of its travel range, reducing harshness over sudden road surface changes. Off-road, 10 inches of controlled travel allows the front axle to articulate over terrain that would unload the front wheels on a more restricted system, maintaining traction and control in situations where the factory suspension runs out of travel and contact with the ground becomes intermittent.

Fitment

The Carli Signature Series shock set fits the following Ram HD configurations: 1994–2002 Dodge Ram 2500 (4x4, all available engines including 5.9-liter Cummins diesel and 5.9-liter Magnum gas, all trim levels); 1994–2002 Dodge Ram 3500 (4x4, all engines, all trims, SRW and DRW); 2003–2009 Dodge Ram 2500 (4x4, all engines including 5.9-liter and 6.7-liter Cummins diesel, all trims); 2003–2009 Dodge Ram 3500 (4x4, all engines, all trims, SRW and DRW); 2010–2013 Ram 2500 (4x4, all engines, all trims); 2010–2013 Ram 3500 (4x4, all engines, all trims, SRW and DRW).

This set is designed for 2.75 inches of front lift. If your truck is running a different lift height — more common at the more aggressive end of the Ram HD modification spectrum — confirm with Carli that the Signature Series shock length is correct for your specific geometry before ordering. Running shocks sized for 2.75-inch lift on a truck with significantly more lift results in shocks that do not use their full travel range correctly and may exhibit incorrect geometry at the end of droop or compression travel.

Installation and Alignment

The Signature Series shocks install in the factory shock mounting locations on the 1994–2013 Ram HD. Upper and lower mounting uses the factory bolt holes and bracket positions without modification. If you are installing the shocks alongside coil spring replacements or a leveling system, complete all suspension component installations before the alignment appointment — a single alignment after all components are in place is more efficient and more accurate than multiple partial alignments as components are added incrementally.

A front-end alignment is required any time front ride height changes. Changing the coil springs or installing a leveling system changes the truck's caster angle and affects steering geometry. Driving on a lifted Ram HD without an alignment after the lift causes uneven and accelerated tire wear on the front tires and can produce steering pull that requires constant correction at highway speed. Budget for the alignment appointment as part of the installation cost, not as an optional follow-up.

Estimated installation time for the front and rear shock set at a shop equipped with a lift is two to three hours. Torque all mounting hardware to Carli's specified values. Verify clearance at full droop and full compression at both front corners before returning the truck to service. A brief break-in period is normal for new shocks — the damping characteristics will settle slightly over the first few hundred miles as the internal components seat and the oil distributes evenly through the valving stack.

Pairing With Carli Coil Springs and Steering Components

For a complete front suspension upgrade on the 1994–2013 Ram 2500 and 3500, the Signature Series shocks pair with Carli's coil spring upgrades for this platform — available in 2.75-inch and 3-inch lift configurations for the diesel variants. Carli develops the spring rates to work with the Signature Series shock valving, which means the spring and shock characteristics are matched rather than independently sourced from different manufacturers with different assumptions about the other component's behavior.

At 2.75 inches of lift, a steering stabilizer upgrade is recommended for 1994–2013 Ram HD trucks — particularly those running larger tires than the factory specification. Carli's low-mount steering stabilizers for this platform, available in Y-style and T-style configurations for different model year ranges, complement the Signature Series shock upgrade by addressing the steering dynamics that larger tires and lifted geometry introduce. The complete system — Signature shocks, Carli springs, and a matched steering stabilizer — delivers a front suspension that performs correctly in all dimensions, not just the vertical damping that the shocks address alone.

Made in the USA — Why It Matters for Suspension Components

Carli Suspension designs and machines their components at their Southern California facility. This is not a badge-engineering operation where catalog parts get stamped with a brand name — Carli's engineers design the geometry, write the machining programs, and verify the finished dimensions against their specifications before anything ships. For suspension components where dimensional accuracy directly determines handling behavior, this manufacturing control matters. A control arm that is two millimeters off in the inner pivot-to-outer pivot centerline will produce a caster error that no alignment can fully correct. A shock with incorrect valving — one that was not built for the specific truck weight it is installed on — will never perform as intended regardless of how carefully it is installed.

The USA manufacturing origin also means Carli can respond quickly to design improvements identified through field use, produce parts in quantities that match actual demand, and maintain quality consistency across production runs without the variability that comes from delegating manufacturing to overseas contract suppliers. For Ram HD and Super Duty owners who are building trucks they plan to drive hard for years, these manufacturing details are not marketing language — they are the reason Carli suspension components perform consistently and last.
