Carli 2023+ Ford F-250/F-350 4x4 Long Travel Airbag Upper Frame Brackets

When you install a long travel airbag suspension system on a 2023 or newer Ford F-250 or F-350 Super Duty, the factory upper frame mounting points are no longer in the right position. The geometry changes. The airbags sit at wrong angles. Load capacity suffers. Handling degrades. The Carli Long Travel Airbag Upper Frame Brackets solve this — they relocate and reinforce the upper airbag mounting position so your airbag system operates at the correct geometry for the lifted suspension envelope on the 2023+ fourth-generation Super Duty.

These brackets are not a universal fit. They are engineered specifically for 2023 and newer fourth-generation Super Duty trucks, which received revised frame geometry and updated suspension mounting points compared to the 2017–2022 generation. If you are running a Carli long travel setup on a newer Super Duty and using earlier brackets, your airbag system is compromised. These are the correct brackets for the truck.

Why Long Travel Airbag Systems Need Geometry-Corrected Upper Mounts

Airbag suspension on a heavy-duty truck serves a dual purpose: it maintains ride height under load and improves ride quality when running empty or lightly loaded. For the system to do either job correctly, the airbag must operate within its designed range of motion — compressed and extended angles that keep the bag round, the load evenly distributed, and the mounting hardware unstressed.

When you lift a Super Duty and add long travel suspension, the axle can droop significantly further than stock. The airbag, mounted between the axle and frame, now has to travel through a much wider range of motion. If the upper mount is not repositioned to match this geometry, the bag operates at extreme angles at both ends of travel — which causes premature bag failure, reduced load capacity, and uneven force distribution on the frame mounting hardware.

Carli's upper frame brackets correct this by repositioning the top mount to the geometry that matches their long travel suspension stroke. The result is an airbag that operates correctly through the full range of suspension travel — which is exactly what you need when you are hauling a loaded trailer over rough terrain or running fully droop-extended on a desert trail.

Fitment: 2023 and Newer Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

These brackets are designed for the 2023 and newer Ford F-250 Super Duty (all trim levels, 4x4) and the 2023 and newer Ford F-350 Super Duty (all trim levels, 4x4). They are required when installing Carli long travel airbag systems on these specific model years due to the frame geometry changes introduced with the 2023 Super Duty generation refresh.

If you are running a 2017 through 2022 F-250 or F-350, these are not your brackets. Carli makes a separate set for that generation. Confirm your model year before ordering. The 2023-plus Super Duty received updated frame rails and suspension pickup points that are not compatible with previous-generation airbag mounting hardware.

Engineering and Construction

Carli engineers their suspension components in-house, which means the upper frame brackets are designed alongside the complete airbag system rather than sourced separately and adapted. The brackets are built to match the airbag system's travel, the Super Duty's frame geometry, and the load ratings Carli specifies for their long travel setups. Hardware is included for installation. The engineering goal is to keep the airbag operating in the correct portion of its travel curve at all suspension positions — from full droop to full compression — which requires precise bracket placement and dimensional accuracy.

Installation Overview

Installation requires removing the factory airbag mounts and bolting the Carli upper frame brackets in their place. The process is designed to be completed with standard hand tools. No drilling, welding, or frame modification is required for the upper bracket installation itself. If you are installing a complete Carli long travel airbag package, the upper frame brackets install as part of the overall system sequence. If you are retrofitting these brackets to an existing airbag setup, confirm the bracket geometry matches your specific airbag make and model with Carli technical support before installation.

Estimated installation time for a prepared shop is two to three hours as part of a complete system install. Standalone bracket swap on an existing setup runs approximately one hour per side.

Pairing with the Complete Carli Long Travel System

The upper frame brackets work as part of Carli's broader long travel airbag solution for 2023-plus Super Duty trucks. The complete system includes the airbag assemblies, upper brackets, lower mounting hardware, and all associated fasteners. For trucks running Carli's Pathfinder or Commuter shock systems, the airbag upgrade pairs directly with the existing shock geometry. The frame brackets ensure the airbag system does not conflict with shock travel or clearance envelopes.

If your 2023-plus F-250 or F-350 is already on a Carli Pathfinder shock package and you are adding airbags for towing load management, these brackets are the required component to make the airbag system operate correctly at Carli's lift height. Skipping them means your airbag system is installed but not set up to work as designed.

Super Duty Towing and Load Management

The 2023-plus Super Duty is capable in stock form, but owners running Carli suspensions are typically towing heavy, driving off-road frequently, or both. An airbag system operating at the wrong geometry under a loaded trailer is a reliability risk. The bag wears unevenly, the mount hardware sees stress it was not designed for, and load management becomes inconsistent. These brackets are the detail that makes the system right. Correct geometry means consistent load management, predictable handling under tow, and an airbag system that lasts through the kind of hard use these trucks see every week.

Real-World Performance: What Owners Report After Installation

Owners who upgrade to Carli's system on their Ram HD or Super Duty trucks report consistent improvements across several areas. The most immediate change is highway stability — the truck tracks more confidently in a straight line, requires less steering correction over grooved pavement and highway imperfections, and feels more planted under hard braking. This improvement is a direct result of correct shock valving for the truck's weight; the front end is being controlled correctly rather than moving freely until the shock reaches its compressed state and then resisting suddenly.

Off-road performance improvements are most noticeable during sustained driving over rough terrain — extended dirt road travel, moderate trail use, or high-speed desert driving. At the point where a conventional shock begins to fade from heat buildup, a correctly specified Carli system maintains consistent damping behavior. The truck continues to feel predictable and controllable when it would otherwise be developing the loose, inconsistent handling that characterizes heat-faded shocks. This is particularly important for owners who use their trucks as working platforms in remote locations where handling predictability is a safety consideration, not just a performance preference.

Towing behavior improvements are also consistently reported. The front end maintains its stability under the weight transfer that occurs when braking with a heavy trailer behind the truck. The rear does not oscillate as dramatically when a trailer causes pitch under braking. The overall truck-plus-trailer combination feels more cohesive and predictable, reducing driver fatigue over long towing runs. For Ram HD and Super Duty owners whose primary use case involves regular heavy towing, this improvement in towing dynamics is often more valuable in daily use than the off-road performance gains — they pull a trailer five days a week and go off-road twice a year, and the Carli system improves the use case that matters most to them every time they hook up and drive.

Maintenance and Long-Term Care

Shock absorbers are wear components. Even the best-specified, correctly installed shocks have a service life measured in miles and cycles — and the more demanding the use, the shorter that service life. For Ram HD and Super Duty owners who use their trucks seriously, monitoring shock performance is a routine part of ownership. The early signs of shock wear are subtle: slightly more body movement over highway imperfections, marginally longer recovery after bumps, a very slight increase in nose dive under braking. These are easy to miss if they develop gradually. A useful benchmark is to note how the truck feels on a familiar road immediately after installation; revisit that same road once a year and compare. Any meaningful change in behavior over familiar terrain is a signal worth investigating.

Inspect shock bodies and reservoir hoses visually during routine oil changes or tire rotations. Look for oil residue or streaking on the shock body — a small amount of seepage at the shaft seal is normal on used shocks, but active dripping indicates a seal that needs attention. Check reservoir hose fittings for tightness and look for any abrasion wear where the hose passes near moving components. Carli shocks are built for long service life, but no shock lasts forever on a truck that is being used as designed. Timely replacement maintains the suspension performance and protects surrounding components from the accelerated wear that results from degraded shock damping.
