Carli 2019–2024 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel Pathfinder 2.5-Inch Level Height Shock Package

The Carli Pathfinder 2.5-inch shock package for 2019–2024 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel is Carli's premium shock upgrade for the current-generation Ram heavy-duty diesel platform. The 2019–2024 Ram 2500 introduced updated suspension geometry and a revised front axle architecture that represents the current state of the Ram HD platform — and the Pathfinder shocks for this generation are developed specifically for that geometry, not adapted from an earlier-generation package.

Remote reservoir shocks work by separating the oil reservoir from the shock body, increasing total oil volume in the damping circuit. Greater oil volume provides greater thermal capacity — the ability to absorb heat generated during shock cycling without reaching the temperature at which oil viscosity changes and damping performance degrades. For a Ram 2500 diesel used for demanding towing, frequent off-road driving, or sustained rough-road travel, this thermal capacity is the difference between consistent performance throughout a long day of hard driving and shocks that are faded and inconsistent by mid-afternoon.

The 2019–2024 Ram 2500 Platform

The 2019–2024 Ram 2500 represents the most refined version of the Ram HD platform to date. The front suspension uses an updated solid front axle with revised radius arm geometry and mounting points that differ from the 2014–2018 generation. The 6.7L Cummins High Output variant available in these years produces more torque than any previous Cummins application in a half-ton or three-quarter-ton application, which translates to more dynamic loading on the front suspension during hard acceleration and heavy towing. The rear suspension on these trucks is also revised, with improved articulation and load management over the previous generation.

Carli develops the Pathfinder shocks for the 2019–2024 Ram 2500 specifically for the geometry and weight characteristics of this generation — not a universal Ram HD specification that approximates the requirements across multiple generations. The front shock valving accounts for the 6.7L Cummins diesel's front-end weight on the 2019-plus platform, and the rear shocks are tuned to complement the revised rear suspension of this generation.

Who This Package Is For

The Pathfinder shock package is the correct specification for 2019–2024 Ram 2500 diesel owners who do serious off-road driving — sustained trail use, high-speed desert running, rocky terrain, or extended rough-road travel — or who tow heavy loads frequently on roads where the suspension is working continuously. If your Ram 2500 diesel is primarily a highway and city truck with occasional off-road use on maintained roads, Carli's Commuter shock set is the appropriate specification at a lower cost. The Pathfinder's thermal advantage is realized most in sustained hard-use conditions; in lighter use, the performance difference versus the Commuter is smaller.

For owners who do use their trucks in these demanding conditions, the Pathfinder is not an optional upgrade — it is the correct tool for the job. Running conventional or entry-level shocks on a Ram 2500 diesel that is being pushed hard through demanding terrain means running shocks that are not adequate for the use case, and the truck's handling and stability will reflect that inadequacy when the shocks are hot and faded.

Fitment

The Carli Pathfinder shock package fits 2019–2024 Ram 2500 equipped with the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine (4x4, all trim levels, all cab configurations). This is a shocks-only package — not a complete leveling system. Front reservoir mounts are required for correct front shock reservoir placement and must be installed before or alongside the shocks. Confirm that your truck's lift height matches the shock length specification in this package before ordering; running shocks at the wrong length for your lift height produces incorrect geometry through the travel range.

Installation

The Pathfinder shocks install in the factory mounting locations on the 2019–2024 Ram 2500. Install front reservoir mounts first, route reservoir hoses per Carli's specified path, and verify clearance at full droop, full compression, and full steering lock in both directions before driving. A front-end alignment is required after any change to front ride height. Estimated installation time at a shop with a lift is two to three hours for the complete front and rear shock set, not including alignment time. Torque all hardware to Carli's specifications and document the installation for future reference when inspecting or servicing the system.

Pairing With the Complete Carli Ram 2500 System

The Pathfinder shocks work as part of Carli's complete leveling and lift system for the 2019–2024 Ram 2500 diesel. The shocks are tuned to work with Carli's spring rates for this platform — running Carli Pathfinder shocks with springs from a different manufacturer produces a system that is not matched, and the suspension behavior will reflect the mismatch. For owners building a complete front suspension upgrade on the 2019–2024 Ram 2500, the Carli spring package for this generation plus the Pathfinder shocks is the matched, complete solution that Carli's system is designed to deliver.

Additional geometry corrections required at your specific lift height — caster correction hardware, bump stop corrections, extended brake lines — should all be installed as part of the same service as the shocks to minimize repeat disassembly and alignment appointments. Build the complete parts list before starting the installation, and complete all geometry corrections in a single service visit for the most efficient path to a correctly set up truck.

Protecting the Investment in a Ram 2500 Diesel

The 2019–2024 Ram 2500 diesel is a significant investment — a capable, refined platform that owners typically plan to keep for high mileage and hard use. The suspension system is central to what makes the truck useful and enjoyable to drive, and the shocks are the component that most directly controls how the truck behaves over every road surface, under every load condition, and in every terrain type. Shocks that are adequate but not optimal mean a truck that is performing below its capability — more noise, more body movement, less confident handling under load, and more fatigue on other suspension components that are working against shock behavior that is not correctly calibrated for the truck.

The Carli Pathfinder system is the correct specification for the 2019–2024 Ram 2500 diesel being used seriously. It is not the cheapest option and it is not the answer for every use case. For owners who drive their trucks the way these trucks were designed to be driven — loaded, towing, off-road, through conditions that test what the suspension can do — the Pathfinder represents the correct long-term investment in the truck's core capability.

Real-World Performance: What Owners Report After Installation

Owners who upgrade to Carli's system on their Ram HD or Super Duty trucks report consistent improvements across several areas. The most immediate change is highway stability — the truck tracks more confidently in a straight line, requires less steering correction over grooved pavement and highway imperfections, and feels more planted under hard braking. This improvement is a direct result of correct shock valving for the truck's weight; the front end is being controlled correctly rather than moving freely until the shock reaches its compressed state and then resisting suddenly.

Off-road performance improvements are most noticeable during sustained driving over rough terrain — extended dirt road travel, moderate trail use, or high-speed desert driving. At the point where a conventional shock begins to fade from heat buildup, a correctly specified Carli system maintains consistent damping behavior. The truck continues to feel predictable and controllable when it would otherwise be developing the loose, inconsistent handling that characterizes heat-faded shocks. This is particularly important for owners who use their trucks as working platforms in remote locations where handling predictability is a safety consideration, not just a performance preference.

Towing behavior improvements are also consistently reported. The front end maintains its stability under the weight transfer that occurs when braking with a heavy trailer behind the truck. The rear does not oscillate as dramatically when a trailer causes pitch under braking. The overall truck-plus-trailer combination feels more cohesive and predictable, reducing driver fatigue over long towing runs. For Ram HD and Super Duty owners whose primary use case involves regular heavy towing, this improvement in towing dynamics is often more valuable in daily use than the off-road performance gains — they pull a trailer five days a week and go off-road twice a year, and the Carli system improves the use case that matters most to them every time they hook up and drive.

Bull Strap and Carli Suspension share a manufacturing relationship and a geography — both are Southern California companies building truck suspension components for owners who use their trucks seriously. That shared standard shows in how the system components work together. When you install a complete Carli system on your Ram HD or Super Duty, you are installing products built by people who drive the same trucks through the same terrain and understand what the hardware needs to survive and perform reliably over years of real use.

Building a Complete Suspension System: The Right Approach

The most common mistake in suspension upgrades on Ram HD and Super Duty trucks is treating individual components as independent improvements rather than as parts of a system. A new set of shocks installed on stock springs at a non-standard lift height will not perform as designed — the shocks are calibrated for a specific spring rate and a specific geometry that must both be present for the damping behavior to be correct. New springs without matched shocks produce a spring rate that the shocks are not designed to control. A lift without geometry corrections produces a suspension that is at the wrong angle for all of its components simultaneously. The correct approach is to build the system completely, with all components specified for the same application, installed in the correct sequence, and verified with a professional alignment at the end.

Carli's component lineup is designed with this system approach from the ground up. The spring rates for a given platform and lift height are developed alongside the shock valving. The geometry correction hardware — radius arm drop brackets, bump drop pucks, sway bar drop brackets — is dimensioned to work with the specific lift height and shock geometry that the system is designed around. The steering stabilizers are specified for the steering dynamics of the lifted platform with the larger tires that accompany a meaningful lift. Every component has a place in the system, and the system performs correctly when all of those components are present and correctly installed.

For Ram HD and Super Duty owners who are building a lifted truck for the first time, the best investment before purchasing any components is a conversation with Carli's technical support about your specific truck, your intended lift height, and your intended use case. Carli can specify the complete parts list for your application, which prevents the common outcome of spending money on individual components that do not work together correctly and requiring additional purchases to correct the resulting system problems. Buy the right system the first time.
