Carli 2017–2023 Ford F-250/F-350 Super Duty Stainless Braided Extended Brake Lines — 4.5-Inch Clearance


The Carli stainless braided extended brake lines for 2017–2023 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty are a required safety upgrade for any fifth-generation Super Duty running 4.5 or more inches of front lift. At this lift height, the factory brake lines — designed for stock ride height and stock suspension droop — are stretched to their limit at full suspension extension. Stretched brake lines deliver inconsistent pedal feel, reduced braking response, and eventual failure at exactly the moment when braking performance is most critical.


Carli's extended lines add the clearance needed to accommodate 4.5 inches of lift and the additional droop travel that comes with it. The stainless braided construction replaces flexible rubber with a dimensionally stable braided stainless sleeve that maintains consistent internal volume under hydraulic pressure — delivering direct, predictable pedal feel on every application of the brakes rather than the spongy response of a line that is flexing under pressure.



Why Brake Lines Must Be Extended After a 4.5-Inch Lift


Every inch of front lift on a solid-axle truck changes the relationship between the axle and the frame. The axle can now droop further from the frame at full extension than it could at stock height. This additional droop increases the distance the brake lines must span between their frame-side and axle-side mounting points. At stock height, the factory lines are routed with enough slack for normal suspension travel. At 4.5 inches of lift, that slack is gone — the lines are under tension at full droop.

Stainless Braided Construction and Performance


The stainless braided sleeve around the brake line serves two purposes: it protects the inner hose from abrasion and impact damage, and it prevents the hose from expanding radially under pressure. Rubber brake lines, even in good condition, flex outward slightly under hydraulic pressure. This flex absorbs some of the hydraulic force before it reaches the caliper, resulting in a slightly soft, spongy pedal feel. Stainless braided lines are dimensionally constrained — they cannot expand — so hydraulic pressure goes directly to the caliper without loss. These lines are sized for 4.5 inches of front lift — the lift height at which the factory lines become inadequate. If you are running less than 4.5 inches of lift, the factory lines may still have adequate length; if you are running more, confirm with Carli whether these lines are appropriate for your specific lift height.



Installation


Brake line replacement requires brake system bleeding after installation — this is not optional and cannot be skipped. Air introduced into the brake system during line replacement will cause soft pedal and unpredictable braking response until the system is properly bled. Standard brake line removal tools and a line wrench set are required. Route the new lines through any clips or guides provided and confirm clearance at all suspension and steering extremes before returning the truck to service. Estimated installation time at a shop with bleeding equipment is one to two hours. If you are not experienced with brake system work, have a qualified shop perform the installation and bleeding.



How to Know When Your Shocks or Suspension Components Need Replacement

In the event of a product failure, Bull Strap will decide whether that product should be repaired or replaced after reviewing photos submitted by the customer. Bull Strap will then provide a return shipping label for any product in which the material or stitching were determined to be the root cause. Once received, the product will be repaired or replaced and returned to the customer at no cost.

On non-custom items, if within 30 days of purchase directly from Bull Strap, a customer would like to return an unused product with no modifications, and where the item(s) can be considered 'new in box', the customer can email us at info@bullstrap.com or call us at 951-319-4008. The will be a 15% restocking fee subtracted from any returned items. Once processed, the customer must ship the product back and submit the tracking information. Bull Strap will issue a full refund minus the 15% restocking fee once the item(s) is/are received and determined to be in 'Brand New' condition. NOTE: If a customer ordered Bull Strap products from a dealer, the customer must go through this process directly with the dealer the product was ordered from.
