The Carli Gas-Spec 2.0-inch IFP front and rear shock package for 2011–2023 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty is Carli's shock system engineered for gas-engine Super Duty trucks running 2.5 inches of front lift. IFP stands for Internal Floating Piston, a technology that separates the shock's nitrogen charge from the damping oil using a piston that floats freely inside the shock body, maintaining consistent pressure on the oil side and eliminating the aeration that degrades conventional twin-tube shocks during hard use. The result is more consistent damping through sustained cycling without the complexity and cost of an external remote reservoir system.



The Gas-Spec designation is the critical detail. Ford F-250 and F-350 trucks equipped with the 6.2-liter or 7.3-liter gasoline engines have a different front-end weight than the same trucks equipped with the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel. The diesel is significantly heavier over the front axle — enough that shock valving calibrated for diesel weight will over-damp a gas-engine truck, producing a harsh front suspension that transmits road noise instead of absorbing it. Carli's Gas-Spec shocks are valved specifically for the gas engine's front-end weight, ensuring the damping response is appropriate for the truck under the hood.



IFP Design: Performance Without External Reservoir Complexity



Conventional twin-tube shocks can suffer from oil aeration under hard use — when the shock cycles rapidly, oil and the nitrogen charge can mix, creating a frothy mixture that does not damp consistently. The resulting fade manifests as a softer, less controlled ride after sustained off-road driving or repeated large impacts in quick succession. The IFP design eliminates this by physically separating the oil and nitrogen with a floating piston inside the body. As the shock compresses, oil moves through the valving stack and the nitrogen on the other side of the piston compresses slightly, maintaining consistent pressure on the oil without any mixing between the two chambers.



This design provides better fade resistance than conventional twin-tube shocks during hard use, making the IFP a meaningful upgrade over conventional replacement shocks for Super Duty owners who push their trucks on rough terrain or sustained off-road runs. The IFP does this without the reservoir hose, remote canister, and associated mounting hardware of a full remote reservoir system — a cleaner installation that retains the performance advantage where it matters most for moderate to demanding use.



Carli's Proprietary Tuning for the Gas Super Duty



Carli develops the shock valving for the Gas-Spec IFP package around the actual measured front-end weight of the 6.2-liter and 7.3-liter gas-engine F-250 and F-350. This is a different starting point than the diesel-spec shocks for the same truck — the weight difference is significant enough to require different valving to achieve the same quality of damping behavior. The front shocks in this package control nose dive under braking, absorb road inputs across the speed range from slow parking lot bumps to high-speed highway impacts, and provide the front-end stability that makes a lifted Super Duty feel planted rather than floaty at highway speeds.



The rear shocks are tuned to complement the front and work with the factory rear leaf spring setup on the 2011–2023 Super Duty. Together, the front and rear package delivers balanced damping behavior across the truck's operating range — from an empty solo driver on the morning commute to a heavily loaded truck pulling a trailer on a rough highway surface. Neither condition is favored at the expense of the other; the tuning works across the range that gas-engine Super Duty owners actually use their trucks.



Why Gas Super Duty Owners Benefit From Matched Tuning



Gas-engine Super Duty owners often end up with diesel-spec shocks on their trucks — either because the seller didn't distinguish between variants, because they found a deal on a set, or because they simply didn't know the difference mattered. The result is a front suspension that feels unnecessarily stiff when empty and over-controls small inputs that should be absorbed rather than transmitted to the steering wheel and cab. Running gas-spec shocks on a gas-engine Super Duty is not a minor refinement — it is the difference between a shock system that is correctly calibrated for the truck and one that is fighting against the truck's weight characteristics on every road input.



For F-250 and F-350 owners who spend most of their miles on pavement — commuting, highway driving, and towing — the gas-spec tuning produces noticeably better ride quality than diesel-spec shocks would on the same truck. For owners who also use the truck off-road, the IFP design provides enough fade resistance for the moderate to demanding terrain that most gas-engine Super Duty owners drive through, without the cost premium of the full Pathfinder remote reservoir system.



Fitment: 2011–2023 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty — Gas Engine



This shock package fits 2011–2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty with 6.2-liter or 7.3-liter gasoline engine (4x4, all trim levels, all cab configurations) and 2011–2023 Ford F-350 Super Duty with the same gas engines (4x4, all trim levels, SRW). The 6.2-liter was offered from 2011 through the generation's production; the 7.3-liter replaced it starting with the 2020 model year. Both are covered by this package's Gas-Spec tuning. These shocks are designed for 2.5 inches of front lift paired with Carli's leveling system for this platform.



This package is explicitly not correct for diesel-powered F-250 or F-350 trucks. If your truck has the 6.7-liter Power Stroke, the diesel-spec IFP or Pathfinder package is the appropriate choice — the Gas-Spec valving is calibrated for a meaningfully lighter front-end weight and will under-damp a diesel Super Duty. Confirm your engine before ordering.



Installation



The Gas-Spec IFP shocks install in the factory mounting locations on the 2011–2023 F-250 and F-350. No external reservoir mounting hardware is required for this package — the IFP design is contained within the shock body. Upper and lower shock hardware uses the factory mounting points without modification to the frame, axle, or mounting brackets. If you are installing this shock package alongside a Carli leveling system, install all suspension components in the correct sequence before performing the mandatory front-end alignment. Running the truck at a new ride height without an alignment causes uneven tire wear and incorrect steering behavior that negates the benefit of the suspension upgrade.



Estimated installation time at a shop with a lift is two to three hours for the complete front and rear shock set. If you are installing alongside coil springs or other front suspension components, allow additional time for those components and reserve a separate alignment appointment. Torque all hardware to Carli's specified values and verify clearance at full droop, full compression, and full steering lock in both directions before returning the truck to service.



Completing the Gas Super Duty Suspension System



The Gas-Spec IFP shock package is the damping component of a complete front suspension upgrade for the gas-engine 2011–2023 F-250 and F-350. Pair it with Carli's leveling system coil springs for this platform to get a complete, matched front suspension where both the spring rates and shock valving are developed to work together. Running Carli shocks with springs from a different manufacturer produces a front suspension where the spring and shock characteristics are not matched, which means neither component performs at its designed level because each is working against the other's behavior rather than with it.



At 2.5 inches of lift on the 2011–2023 Super Duty gas platform, additional geometry corrections may be required depending on your truck's specific configuration — radius arm caster correction and front bump stop geometry correction are common requirements at this lift height. Carli's technical support can confirm the complete list of components needed for your specific truck and lift height to ensure the suspension is correctly set up from the first drive.

Bull Strap guarantees all products to be free from manufacturer defects for all items for one year, and any color fading (where mentioned) for 2 years from the time of purchase. In the event of a product failure, Bull Strap will decide whether that product should be repaired or replaced after reviewing photos submitted by the customer. Bull Strap will then provide a return shipping label for any product in which the material or stitching were determined to be the root cause. Once received, the product will be repaired or replaced and returned to the customer at no cost.

REFUND POLICY

Seat covers and other custom made items, retain all warranties listed above, but cannot be refunded or exchanged at any time

On non-custom items, if within 30 days of purchase directly from Bull Strap, a customer would like to return an unused product with no modifications, and where the item(s) can be considered 'new in box', the customer can email us at info@bullstrap.com or call us at 951-319-4008. The will be a 15% restocking fee subtracted from any returned items. Once processed, the customer must ship the product back and submit the tracking information. Bull Strap will issue a full refund minus the 15% restocking fee once the item(s) is/are received and determined to be in 'Brand New' condition. NOTE: If a customer ordered Bull Strap products from a dealer, the customer must go through this process directly with the dealer the product was ordered from.
