Carli 05-16 Ford F-250/F-350 Super Duty Front Bump Drop Pucks


When you lift a 2005 through 2016 Ford F-250 or F-350 Super Duty, the factory bump stop geometry does not move with the lift. This means your suspension geometry and your bump stop engagement point are now out of sync. The Carli Front Bump Drop Pucks correct this. They reposition the front bump stop contact point downward to match 2.5 inches of lift, restoring proper bump stop engagement geometry and protecting your suspension components from metal-to-metal contact at full compression.


This is not a glamorous part. It does not change your ride height, add travel, or show up in photos. What it does is ensure your lifted Super Duty's front suspension contacts a bump stop before it contacts something that costs far more to replace. For any 2005 through 2016 F-250 or F-350 running 2.5 inches of front lift, this is a required geometry correction.


Why Bump Stop Geometry Matters After a Lift


Bump stops prevent your suspension from reaching the absolute mechanical end of its compression travel — the point where metal hits metal, damaging shocks, control arms, CV axles, and related components. On a stock truck, the factory bump stops are positioned to engage just before the suspension can compress that far. When you lift 2.5 inches, you change this geometry. The axle now sits lower relative to the frame at rest. The bump stop, still at its factory position, now engages at a different point in the compression stroke — typically too late, allowing the suspension to travel further into compression than the components were designed to handle.


The result is shocks used beyond their designed compression range, control arms and CV axles stressed at angles they were not engineered for, and bump stops failing to protect the system. Drop pucks correct this by physically lowering the bump stop contact point on the axle side to match the lifted geometry. The bump stop now engages at the correct point in the compression stroke, protecting your suspension regardless of lift.


Fitment: 2005 Through 2016 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty


Carli's Front Bump Drop Pucks are designed for 2005 through 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty (all trims, 4x4) and 2005 through 2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty (all trims, 4x4) with 2.5 inches of front lift. This covers three generations of Super Duty. The third-gen from 2005 to 2007, the fourth-gen from 2008 to 2010, and the updated fourth-gen from 2011 to 2016 all share the same basic front suspension architecture and bump stop geometry. These pucks are not compatible with the 2017-plus Super Duty, which uses different bump stop locations. For 2017 and newer trucks, Carli makes separate bump drop hardware.


Installation


The drop pucks bolt to the existing bump stop mounting point on the axle, lowering the contact surface by the correct amount to restore proper geometry at 2.5 inches of lift. No drilling, welding, or modification of the frame or axle housing is required. Standard hand tools are sufficient. Installation time is approximately 30 to 45 minutes with the front axle accessible on a lift or jack stands. These should be installed at the same time as any 2.5-inch front lift components — coil springs, shocks, or a complete leveling system. Installing lift without correcting bump stop geometry is an incomplete job that leaves your suspension components exposed to premature damage.

On a 2005 through 2016 Super Duty with 2.5 inches of front lift, geometry corrections include the bump stop (these pucks), potentially the caster via radius arm drop brackets, and brake line length via Carli's extended brake lines. Each component serves a specific geometry correction purpose. The system works correctly when all the corrections are in place. Installing only some of them leaves the others exposed.

How to Know When Your Shocks or Suspension Components Need Replacement



Suspension components do not fail suddenly in most cases — they degrade gradually, and the degradation can be subtle enough that owners adapt to it without realizing how far the truck's behavior has drifted from what it should be. The most reliable way to detect shock wear is to drive the truck over a familiar road after installation and note how it behaves, then revisit that same road once a year. Meaningful changes in highway stability, stopping distance feel, body movement over bumps, or tire wear patterns are all indicators worth investigating. A truck that needed constant steering correction on a familiar route last year but now requires even more is telling you something about the front suspension that is worth addressing before it becomes a safety issue under hard braking or in an emergency maneuver.



Specific signs that front shocks on a lifted Ram HD or Super Duty have reached the end of their useful life include: excessive nose dive under moderate braking that was not present when the shocks were new; the front end bouncing more than once or twice after a significant road input rather than recovering cleanly; steering that feels vague or requires continuous small corrections to maintain a straight line on a flat road; and visible oil residue streaming down the shock body from the shaft seal rather than the small amount of seepage that is normal on used shocks. Ram 2500, Ram 3500, F-250, and F-350 trucks are built to be driven for high mileage — 200,000, 300,000, or more miles on a well-maintained powertrain is not unusual, particularly with the Cummins diesel and Power Stroke diesel engines that these platforms share. The will be a 15% restocking fee subtracted from any returned items. Once processed, the customer must ship the product back and submit the tracking information. Bull Strap will issue a full refund minus the 15% restocking fee once the item(s) is/are received and determined to be in 'Brand New' condition.
