## ARB Airlocker 35 Spl 2In Brng Ford 9In S/N

If you're driving a Ford and you're serious about performance, you already know that factory differential locker was engineered to a price point, not a performance target. ARB takes a completely different approach.

ARB has been engineering 4x4 accessories from their Australian headquarters since 1975, and in five decades they've developed a reputation that's essentially unmatched in the serious 4x4 community. Every ARB product is engineered to work as a system — designed with the understanding that serious off-road drivers depend on their equipment in remote locations where failure isn't an option. ARB's testing protocols are legendary: products undergo tens of thousands of kilometers of real-world validation across Australia's harshest environments before they ever reach a customer.

The result is this differential locker — engineered with the Ford specifically in mind, matching spring rates, mounting geometry, and component sizing to what this platform actually demands under real-world conditions.

## Engineering and Technology

ARB's Old Man Emu suspension line uses extensive vehicle-specific tuning, with spring rates and damping curves developed through real-world testing on the specific platform. Their air lockers use a pneumatic system that engages in under a second and holds engagement even under maximum axle loads — critical when you're committed on a difficult line. ARB bumpers use military-grade high-strength steel and are engineered to mount to the factory frame without modification to structural members.

For the Ford, these engineering principles translate into direct performance improvements. Ford owners running this differential locker consistently report measurably improved performance in their specific application, with reliability that holds up under extended heavy use.

## Who This Is For

This ARB differential locker is designed for Ford owners who use their vehicles seriously. Whether your primary use is overlanding, expedition travel, remote adventure, this component was engineered to deliver in your specific application.

Proper cooling and thermal management are often the limiting factor in how hard you can push your Ford. Factory cooling systems are sized for average loads under average conditions. When you're towing maximum capacity in summer heat, running extended trail sections at low speed, or operating any other high-thermal-load scenario, factory systems run close to their margins. This ARB solution provides the additional capacity your application requires.

Ideal for: Overlanding · Expedition travel · Remote adventure · Recovery operations · Daily 4x4 use

## Why Upgrade Matters for Ford

Factory 4x4 equipment components are engineered to a budget and a set of average expectations. The engineering team responsible for the factory spec had to balance cost, mass-market appeal, regulatory compliance, and warranty exposure — none of which prioritize the kind of performance a serious truck or SUV owner actually needs.

Factory cooling and thermal management systems are sized for typical use cases. When you push a Ford beyond those typical use cases — extended towing, aggressive trail driving, track days, or any scenario involving sustained high loads — factory systems run close to their limits. A ARB upgrade provides the thermal headroom your application actually demands.

## Installation and Compatibility

This ARB differential locker is designed to fit the Ford using the factory mounting provisions and connection points. Detailed installation instructions are included, and most installations can be completed without specialized tools.

This product is designed and tested specifically for the Ford. If your vehicle has factory performance packages that may affect fitment, verify compatibility using your vehicle's build sheet or contact technical support before ordering.

## Complete Your Build with Bull Strap

If you're upgrading your Ford's 4x4 equipment system, your suspension travel and drivetrain protection deserve the same attention. Bull Strap limit straps are the final piece of the suspension puzzle — engineered and manufactured in the USA to control maximum droop travel and protect your axles, CV joints, and brake lines from overextension under articulation.

Bull Strap limit straps are made in the USA from high-tenacity webbing and proprietary hardware and are the choice of professional fabricators and serious off-road builders who understand that uncontrolled droop is how you destroy expensive components. Pair them with your ARB 4x4 equipment upgrade for a complete, properly engineered suspension system.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Will this ARB differential locker fit my Ford?**

Yes — this product is designed and validated for the Ford. Fitment data is verified against factory specifications. If you have a vehicle with unusual factory options or prior modifications, verify those don't affect the installation before ordering.

**How does ARB's differential locker compare to the factory OEM equivalent?**

The factory differential locker was designed to a budget and an average use case. ARB's engineering prioritizes performance, durability, and real-world function over cost minimization. In practical terms, you'll notice the difference in thermal performance under heavy load, reliability over time, and the confidence of knowing your system has headroom beyond what the factory provided.

**Is this differential locker covered by a warranty?**

ARB stands behind the quality of their products with manufacturer warranty coverage. Specific warranty terms vary by product line — refer to the product documentation or contact ARB directly for warranty details applicable to this part. ARB's warranty reflects their confidence in the quality of their manufacturing and materials.

**Can I install this differential locker myself, or do I need a professional?**

Installation difficulty varies by differential locker and vehicle. Most installations are designed to be completed by home mechanics with basic tool access. Professional installation is always an option if you prefer to have the work validated by a shop familiar with your vehicle.

## Build Quality and Value

ARB products are not the cheapest option for your Ford. They are not designed to be. Budget components in critical systems — 4x4 equipment components that your vehicle's capability and, in some cases, safety depend on — create a false economy. The cost of a component failure in a critical system far exceeds the delta between a quality product and a cut-rate alternative. ARB prices reflect genuine engineering investment, quality materials, precise manufacturing, and the validation process that ensures the product performs exactly as specified across its full service life.

For Ford owners who depend on their vehicles in demanding conditions, the calculation is straightforward: invest in components that perform when you need them to, last as long as the vehicle, and back that promise with manufacturer warranty coverage. This ARB differential locker meets that standard.

For professional builders, fleet managers, and serious enthusiasts who track performance across their builds, ARB's consistent engineering standards mean predictable outcomes. When you specify ARB for a Ford build, you know what you're getting.

## Real-World Performance Context

ARB products are validated in the real world, not just on engineering benches. The 4x4 equipment hardware you choose for your Ford will be asked to perform across a wide range of conditions — temperature extremes, sustained load cycles, rough terrain, and the cumulative stress of thousands of miles in demanding environments. This differential locker is engineered to deliver consistent, repeatable performance across all of those conditions.

The thermal environment in a Ford operating under real loads is more demanding than most drivers appreciate. Sustained towing on a summer day, extended low-speed trail running, or any scenario that involves high load at low vehicle speed creates thermal conditions that factory-sized components weren't always designed to handle comfortably. ARB engineers their products with real-world thermal margins that give you headroom in those demanding scenarios.

**What makes the Ford a good platform for 4x4 equipment upgrades?**

The Ford has an excellent foundation — Ford engineers the platform with robust frame construction, capable stock drivetrain components, and factory 4x4 equipment specs that are genuinely competent for average use. The reason aftermarket upgrades make such a difference is precisely because the factory engineers did their job well — the platform can handle more than the factory spec delivers. A ARB differential locker lets you access that latent capability.

**How long does this differential locker last?**

ARB components are designed for service lives that match or exceed the factory equivalent. Proper installation, periodic inspection, and maintenance appropriate to your usage intensity are the primary variables in longevity. Owners running their Ford primarily on-road under moderate loads can expect many years of service without attention. Owners running aggressive off-road applications should inspect 4x4 equipment components more frequently and follow the manufacturer's maintenance recommendations.

**Will this affect my Ford factory warranty?**

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer cannot void your vehicle warranty simply because you installed aftermarket components, unless they can demonstrate the aftermarket part caused the specific failure. That said, review your warranty terms and understand the interaction between your aftermarket components and any open factory warranty claims before installation.

The world's premier traction aid, an ARB Air Locker(TM) keep you moving in all conditions. With the flick of the switch an Air Locker gives instant lock at any moment and its super strong design allows activation at any speed allowing you to tackle the toughest terrain. The advantage of the Air Locker lies in the pneumatically operated locking system inside the differential. When activated, the Air Locker prevents the internal differential gears from rotating and therefore prevents the axle shafts from turning independently of each other. With both wheels tied directly to the rotation of the ring gear, the vehicle maintains maximum possible traction at all times. When unlocked, it operates like a conventional open differential. An Air Locker equipped vehicle can be driven in a slower, safer and more controlled manner, greatly reducing the likelihood of vehicle damage and environmental impact.
